Description

Located in the captivating Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, the Watersmeet Track, Platypus Bay Track, and Larmairremener tabelti hike combines three short walks into one long circuit loop, which means you can easily break off if you need to.

There are many amazing walks for all hiking levels throughout the park, from the world-famous six-day [Overland Track](https://parks.tas.gov.au/explore-our-parks/cradle-mountain/overland-track) to leisurely walks.

This particular route is an excellent option to discover the park’s lavish forest and tranquil lakeside atmosphere with the whole family, as the uphill sections aren’t too strenuous and the trail isn’t too long.

This remote, mostly flat hike will take you along an earth track that winds through lush ancient rainforest, moss-covered boulders and logs, immense pine trees, and alongside the crystal-clear Lake St Clair.

Through the trees, you'll catch glimpses of surrounding tree-covered hills and dramatic mountains and peaks in the distance — an idyllic backdrop.

With few other hikers and far away from roads and towns, this trail fulls immerses you in nature in the best possible way.

Take your time along the hike and stop for a break on the lake’s pebble and sand shore, enjoying a snack as you sit on one of the many logs.

Lake St Clair is Tasmania’s deepest freshwater lake that was carved out over millions of years by glaciers.

The Aboriginal name for it is leeawuleena, meaning “sleeping water”, which perfectly suits the lake’s stillness on its tranquil days.

This moody, ethereal place is steeped in enchanting natural beauty.

As you walk, keep an eye out for native wildlife that’s abundant here, particularly wallabies and pademelons.
