To experience the grandeur, the forests, and the lakes of Durmitor National Park, head on this hike.

Not only will you relax on a ski lift in the middle of this journey, but you’ll also see the famous [Black Lake]( and go through the park’s lush and ancient pine forests.

To top it all off, you’ll have jaw-dropping panoramic views of the vast park and surrounding land from the peak of the epic Savin Kuk mountain at the top of the ski lift.

This meandering, tree-lined earth path takes you on an idyllic journey through the forest, with only the sound of the wind rustling the leaves and the soft thud of your steps around you.

Near the start of the trail, the iconic Black Lake — the highlight of the National Park — appears through the trees to the west, offering you glimpses of its brilliant turquoise water.

Stop for a wander on its shores before continuing through the verdant forest.

Once on the other side of the forest, hop on one of the Savin Ku Ski Centre’s ski lifts to the top of the mountain.

Leave grassy plains used as ski slopes in winter and dark patches of forest behind you, as you make your way closer to the looming, rocky summit.

Feel the fresh wind rush around you as your feet dangle in the air from the ski lift, holding your breath as you get higher and higher up the ridge.

The view from the top will leave you speechless.

Vast expanses of grass- and tree-covered undulating hills stretch out as far as the eyes can see, and mountains dot the horizon.

The return journey on the ski lift will leave you just as mesmerized the whole way down.

Head back through the forest the way you came, choosing to spend more time by the Black Lake if you feel like dipping your toes in its fresh waters.
