Description

Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve is one of the best areas to head for a relaxing trail run in east Plano.

An excellent alternative to [Arbor Hills](https://fatmap.com/routeid/2858850/arbor-hills:-outer-loop) on the other side of town, Oak Point spans 800 acres and includes 8 miles of paved trails and 5 miles of mellow singletrack.

Just over 5k, this run tours most of the park and is a great base to build upon if you're looking for longer miles. The trailhead for this run is located off of Spring Creek Parkway next to a large field.

The lot rarely fills, though it can be busy on weekends and holidays.

A newer parking area accessed from Los Rios Boulevard offers restrooms, water, and a massive parking area should you want to begin your run there instead.

In addition to the paved and unpaved trails, Oak Point includes a zipline and adventure park, picnic pavilions, and a small pond where you could fish, paddleboard, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard.

While the park is open daily from 5am to 11pm, the trails are only open from sunrise to sunset. [Source](https://www.plano.gov/1476/Oak-Point-Park-Nature-Preserve)
