Description

The Dolomites don’t need any kind of introduction when it comes to outdoor activities.

There are numerous locations across the Dolomites region where it is possible to access straight in the middle of these stunning and impressive mountains with a lift and experience some amazing freeride lines surrounded by rocky walls.

Verticality here is definitely predominant: the peaks of the these rocky walls often have some snow tongues in between, giving skiers the possibility of riding them often on rather steep terrain.

San Martino di Castrozza is one of these locations.

A chairlift followed by the Rosetta Cableway will lead you all the way up to a plateau in the middle of the famous Pale di San Martino, starting straight from the parking lot a few hundred meters away from the village center.

From the top of the cableway, you can access the Rosetta Hut - only a few meters below the top station - for an early morning coffee before dropping into the line.

The Rosetta freeride line goes down straight below the cableway ropes.

While the steepness is never too much, there are different exposed traverses and cliffs: have a look at the line from below before dropping in, being in the wrong spot could lead to serious troubles here.

A good level of avalanche assessment is required too, as the line is often exposed to wind. Once at the bottom, you could either jump back on the cableway to enjoy another lap or just to get to the top, get your skins on and experience one of the many other lines starting from there, this location is a nearly endless playground.
