Description

Raintree is one of the “adventure” areas for cat skiing and touring at Powder Mountain.

It’s typically accessed on single-ride snowcat trips that must be booked in advance.

However, when the terrain is open you could instead skin out there on your own, and thus time your run down to avoid the snowcat crowds.

The various runs in Raintree are sure to hold powder stashes long after a storm, thanks to the sheltered trees and limited access.

Note that uphilling is only permitted when Raintree is also open for cat skiing, however, which is typically on weekends and holidays.

See Powder Mountain’s [uphill policy](https://www.powdermountain.com/resort/the-mountain/mountain-safety) for more information. As mapped here, the skin up begins where the snowcat loads at the bottom of Grey Cliffs run, but there is more than one way to get into Raintree.

Alternatively, you could start high and follow the traverse from Summit Village, which would negate the need to skin up the cat track.

To ski down through Raintree, take your pick of beautiful pine or aspen glades.

The line shown here is called Rain Tree Run, but you might chase the powder somewhere else instead.

Once at the bottom, you can choose to continue down Cobabe Canyon to Paradise lift, or turn and skin up Cobabe to link with the cat track and get another lap.
