Langinai river valley trek, exploring lakes, passes around the valley. I along with my team explored the beautiful, Langinai valley that lies between main mountain range and its spur. This main mountain range separates the Kashmir and Muru Warwan. The valley drained by the Langinai river has a length of 7kms and a mean elevation of 3400m. We started from Batkut along the langinai river, towards our campsite at Kamalnār. Next day early in the morning left to explore this valley and the lakes around it. We crossed the 4000m Dithoi gali that connects Basminah warwan and batkut pahalgam. Ditap nag lies at the base to this gali. There was a recent snowfall of around 8-10 inches and that made it difficult to traverse. I along with two others climbed the ridge line of main range, summited a 4300m peak and made a small cairn at top. This probably might be the first summit of that peak. Further traversing the ridge line up to the saddle below Kralsar peak, we descended down to Langinai Nag. It was the vertical 400m drop from saddle down to lake and then descended down to base. Thus traversing the whole of the langinai valley. On this trek i came to know what’s the difference between saddle and pass.
