Description

Williams Lake is home to one of the most expansive trail systems in Central BC, but of all the networks here, Fox Mountain is the most famous.

On Fox Mountain, you'll find a number of well-known lines, but Aflow Daddy is the mega classic.

To ride Aflow Daddy as a loop, follow this recommended route. The route begins on the Powerline trail before eventually turning uphill for the bulk of the climb on Jimmy's Fox and Chicken Scratch.

The climbing can be tough, but you'll gain some fantastic views from the upper sections of Jimmy's Fox.

Eventually, you'll arrive at the upper trailhead—pull on your pads and get ready to descend. This old-school flow trail descent now begins on a section of a modern flow trail known as Loose Moose.

Loose Moose was professionally machine built by Jeremy Stowards and Wylie Easton of New Path Forestry, Ltd., and was recently completed in the spring of 2022.

The top section begins with a few fantastic bridges, swoopy berms, and tabletop jumps before you peel off onto Aflow.

Alternatively, you can easily choose to ride Loose Moose all the way down and complete a very similar loop ride. The builders of Aflow didn't have massive machines to move a ton of dirt around, so the flow here utilizes the natural features of the mountainside.

You'll find plenty of low berms to help keep your speed high, gap jumps, kickers, and a few drops. The flowiest sections are found where the trail drops into natural gullies, with swooping turns flying up and down the sides of the gully.

These sections are an absolute riot and have helped Aflow remain a popular trail for years! One other standout section is a series of tight back-to-back berms that really force you to pump your way around them to maintain your momentum and stay out of the soupy puddles that inevitably lie in the bottoms of the turns. After dropping out of Aflow, follow the lower section of Loose Moose to Fox Connector and then follow Jimmy's Fox around the side of the mountain to return to the trailhead where you began. Aflow Daddy and Loose Moose can both be ripped as quick shuttle runs, too, using the upper trailhead for the drop point and the visitors center as the pickup point.
