Description

After a long and tough section from Passo Pordoï to the Plans- Frara gondola, not many riders can (or should!) resist a drink on the terrace of the Rifugio Jimmi, the start point for this trail.

The terrace enjoys an epic view of the Sella towers and has some great lazy boy-style chairs in which to relax and take it all in. When you do finally get back on your bike, the riding on this section of the Sella Ronda is wonderful, combining fun singletrack with some close-up views of a series of dramatic rock faces.

The overall feel of the ride is quite wild despite the proximity of roads virtually the way down. Begin by ripping down well-prepared trails which lead down to the Hotel Cir and then down further through a series of meadows.

As the trail drifts left, towards the rock faces of the Sella towers, it becomes more of a smooth track and it does involve some very short climbs.

The ambience created by the rock walls and the beautiful forest through which the trail passes should make it all pretty bearable, but after a long day in the saddle the uphills - brief as they are - can feel like a bit of a pain. Eventually, you'll roll into Plan de Gralba and from there it's an easy ride down into Wolkenstein itself.

Wolkenstein is a bustling little town, with cafes and restaurants galore, so if you started the Sella Ronda here, park outside one of the many pizzerias and toast your success!
