Description

After the more popular Gigord and Chevalier Couloirs, the couloir coming down from just below the Aiguille Carree is the third skiable line on the north side of the Grands Montets ridge.

It is longer and more technical than either the Chevalier or the Gigord couloirs.

From the top of the Grand Montets cable car, ski down the very start of the Point du Vue piste before quickly ducking the rope and heading skier's right.

Keep as much height as possible and traverse past the Chevalier and Gigord couloirs to the bottom of the Aiguille Carree Northeast Couloir.

When conditions are good it is possible to start skiing from the top of the ridge.

Skins are normally not needed to reach the start of the couloir.

Ski back down the same way and down the Glacier du Rognons or traverse left to re-join the Point du Vue piste.
