Description

Remarkably close to Silver Star village lies this lovely little trail through quiet forests and high above some deep valleys.

The trail is paved for virtually its entire length, with only brief sections of gravel road and zero technicality. The trail begins at the southern edge of Silver Star village, just beyond the Vernon Ski Club building.

At the start of the trail (and for the rest of the trip) there's good signposting so you should never have any navigation issues. Once on the trail you'll get to see some of Silver Star's more expensive houses, all of which are painted in the colourful style which characterises the village's buildings.

The trail quickly leaves suburbia (if a small cluster of ski chalets can really deserve the description) behind and heads into the forest.

The forested parts of the trail are wonderful, and the ambience peaceful and quiet.

Even when Silver Star is swarming with mountain bikers, hikers and families, this trail should be pleasantly empty and you'll be able to focus on enjoying the atmosphere.

When the trail passes through more open sections of forest there are some huge vistas across the northern Okanagan and over to the glaciated peaks of the Monashees.

One thing to note is that while the trail is close to the village, this is firmly bear country, and there are plenty of furry friends wandering around! Carry a bear spray and be "bear aware" even if you were sipping a coffee in Silver Star 5 minutes earlier!
