Description

This hike through the alpine scenery of the Navis Valley starts at the parking lot in Schranzberg, near the village of Navis. A well-trodden path will guide you through the forest up to the Naviser hut.

Continue south over easy mountain pasture terrain until you reach the cozy Stöcklalm hut.

While walking from one switchback to another, you will recognise the stunning wildflower diversity up here.

The trail then gets steeper until it reaches the col of the Kiechlkreuz peak.

Don’t be tricked by this peak, there are still some meters to be done! Passing some little lakes, the trail arrives at a smaller saddle.

From here on you can already catch a glimpse of the summit and numerous distant peaks of the Tuxer main ridge in the distance.

Turning left (east) the trail follows the grassy back until it reaches the Naviser Kreuzjöchl peak.

The summit rewards with a stunning view onto the glaciers of the deeper Ziller valley.

With a close look south-east you might even spot the cable cars of the Hintertux Glacier resort. For the descent walk a few meters to the east and turn to the left (north) onto a narrow and steep trail down.

This path leads you to the Bettlerstieg trail which guides you through alpine meadows in easy terrain.

Passing the Poltenalm hut you will reach the Stöcklalm hut again.

You might choose between those two and the bigger Naviser hut for a relaxed rest with traditional catering.

From the Stöcklam hut onwards continue on the same route as during the ascent to reach the parking lot.
