Description

Hourglass is the next step up from Profanity Chute.

It’s steeper, tighter and more intimidating.

This means it sees slightly less traffic than the more popular Profanity Chute.

For those who feel comfortable with Profanity and want to take on harder terrain, this is a good place to start.

The journey begins behind the gondola.

Approach via Climbing Gully, once on the ridge, head north all the way to the summit.

Once at the top, Hourglass should be easy to find.

You can see the first few turns before the choke, there is usually a waist high boulder near the top that doesn’t get buried, since the wind blows the snow away.

The first few turns down Hourglass are very steep and get narrower as you go, the top is considered a no fall zone due to the many rocks and trees below.

Soon the chute chokes out to a ski length across.

A handful of jump turns will get you through.

The chute opens up again and dumps you out onto a snowfield littered with trees and cliffs.

Directly below the chute there are some cliffs, so it’s better to cut a little ways to the right.

After this you will reach a small section of flats, at this point you can hike/traverse over to Hellbrook to the left, or continue straight down a bushy drainage and re-enter the resort onto Chin Clip.
