Description

The Back Bowls, also known as the Birthday Bowls, are one of the most underrated areas in Smugglers Notch.

As you ski along the Smuggler’s Notch Crossover, you will notice a number of tracks heading down into The Notch.

These discreet shots are collectively known as the Back Bowls.

There are a number of places to enter, the most obvious of these involves a drop off a retaining wall to enter.

Others are less obvious and may be easy to miss.

The Back Bowls begin with tight tree chutes maintained by locals.

After the the first half, they all join together in a wide swath of natural hardwood glades.

The area is very large and it wood take years to find all the hidden spots.

The Back Bowls end on the Notch Road.

If you came from Smugglers Notch, you have an easy traverse back to the ski area.

If you came from Stowe, be prepared for a long haul back to the resort.
