Description

Hershey Highway offers the solitude of a backcountry run, without the dangers associated with skiing in The Notch.

This makes Hershey Highway a locals favorite.

The approach route follows the Long Trail which is marked with white blazes.

Start by heading off the backside of Sterling Peak.

Once at Sterling Pond, you can pick up the Long Trail.

There are a few landmarks that indicate you are going in the right direction, you should see a tent platform and a shelter.

Once you pass these, begin looking for the drop in.

These wide glades are fairly obvious from above and offer some of the best tree skiing on the mountain.

There are a number of different places to ski down from, all of which end on Shuttle.

Be aware that despite it’s proximity to the slope, this area is still considered out of bounds and is therefore not patrolled.
