A vertical k seems to be the standard challenge to check the own fitness level. But what about to double this into a double VK in just on go and covering only about six kilometers? Your starting point is in Gschnitz at the material railway and gets directly steep! Switchbacking out of the forest you keep on going those till you reach a little plateau where it gets a little bit flatter and gives you the change to change the rhythm and recover a bit before you hit the real steep part of this route. Passing Innsbrucker hut you already can see it gets more high alpine and it’s required to be able to read the track a bit. Direction summit you’ll find some fixed ropes which lead you even steeper than the trail before. It’s a bit exposed and you should be confident in such terrain! Reaching the 3000 meter mark you’ll might already feel the lack of oxygen, but it’s not far anymore. A last steep push including fixed ropes again leads you directly to the summit cross of Habicht - which means „hawk“ Enjoy the view and when heading back, don’t hesitate to have a cake in the Innsbruck hut to refill your carbs for the last 1000m of descent.
