Description
I took the car and drove to Calalzo di Cadore, from there I followed a dirt road to a trailhead named Praciadelan.
It’s a parking lot that fits about 60 vehicles, with a bar nearby for anyone thirsty.
From there you follow a desolated and sparsely marked dirt road marked 255 for about 7km until you arrive at Capanna degli Alpini, a marvelous mountain hut located near a waterfall/ravine Via Ferrata.
From there you keep on the trail marked 255 for about 2 hours, the first part of the path goes through a magical forest for about 45 minutes, in this section you also climb several hundred meters of altitude.
You get to a dried-up river bed and craggy landscape, the trail starts leaning to the left and you will start seeing a mountain cabin in front of you, that’s Rifugio Pietro Galassi.
