Description

Nobody climbs Mount Asplenium for the views, they do it for the challenge.

If views are what you are after, those can be found at the aptly named Panorama Point. While there are a few routes to the summit of Mt Asplenium (1291m), all of them boast a similar characteristic: they aren't that well marked.

As such, a reasonable level of bushwalking experience is a pre-requisite, as is the correct equipment for navigating thick Aussie bush and the occasional scramble. Navigation aside, the reality is that the summit of Mount Asplenium is relatively underwhelming.

Rocky and surrounded by rainforest, there is little to see.

Fortunately, that's where Panorama Point comes in.

Further along the track, the views more than make up for the absence of them from the top of Asplenium. A couple of things to note: this is a remote trail and you will need to be self-sufficient while out on it.

Make sure you have enough food and water for the challenge, and let people know where you are going.

And because of the navigational challenges make sure you download the map of the area in advance.
