Description

The refuge is easily accessible by car when there is no snow, usually between late May - early December.

From there you can easily gain altitude by following the gravel road that takes you to the alpines.

Last 100 vertical meters to the ridge are quite steep, depending on snow conditions (crampons might be needed).

Another steep section (50-55 degrees) is the descending couloir from Katafidi peak towards the entrance of the 'Ape' couloir.

The 'Ape' or 'Ape's eyes' couloir got its name because the shape of an ape's face can be seen when the slope is covered by snow.

Most likely the couloir was first descended by a group of greek skiers (Theocharopoulos, Panagos, ??, ??) in 2016.

The tour was made in late May 2022
