The Highland 550 is a long-distance mountain biking route in Scotland that covers approximately 550 miles (885 km) and passes through some of the most beautiful and rugged landscapes in the Scottish Highlands.

Description

The route starts in Fort William and takes riders through the towns of Lochaber, Badenoch and Strathspey, Cairngorms National Park, and Speyside, before finishing in Inverness. Along the way, riders will pass by several notable landmarks and natural features, such as Loch Ness, the Cairngorm Mountains, and the River Spey.

The route also passes through several remote and wild areas, offering a true wilderness experience for mountain bikers. Naomi Freireich is 3 times British 24 hour MTB Champion and 2018 European 24 hour MTB Champion and is one of the speakers at ‘Tales from the Trails’ at Fort William Mountain Festival 2023.
