Description

The Pfeiffer Falls Trail is far and away the most popular trail in Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park.

This easy 1.5-mile hike climbs through a gorgeous redwood grove to reach impressive views of the 60-foot-tall waterfall.

While the waterfall is just a thin stream most of the time, the setting is absolutely beautiful and pristine. The redwood grove in Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park was burned by a catastrophic fire in 2020, which has significantly altered the forest.

However, many of the ancient redwoods are expected to fully recover from the fire damage and continue living for many years. The trail to Pfeiffer Falls was changed and rerouted partially following the fire, but the views are—if anything—even better.
