Description

This steep hike up the Koko Crater Tramway, also known as the "Koko Crater Railway," follows the ruins of an old tramway that once ran from the bottom of the mountain to the rim of the crater high above.

The train tracks and railroad ties are still on the mountainside, creating a seemingly endless staircase of awkwardly-spaced steps.

These steps also earn this hike the more common name of "Koko Head Stairs." Your reward for this arduous climb is reaching an incredible view of the Koko Crater from the very top of the mountain ridge.

From the top, you can gaze down into a massive volcanic cone.

Imagine the size of the volcano beneath you, extending all the way down to the ocean floor far below you. This impressive vista is one of the most spectacular views on all of Oahu! Sources: https://www.best-of-oahu.com/koko-crater-trail.html
