Description

NOT recommended (for trail runners) in winter. Start steeply from the Youth Hostel and follow the crowds to the 'halfway lochan' on Ben Nevis.

Break from the Mountain Path here and take the trail that traverses under Creag Dearg to the spectactular North Face of Ben Nevis. At the CIC take the trail down the Allt a' Mhuilinn to the wooden style.

Keep left to avoid the trail to the North Face Car Park and instead descend the zigzags dropping to the aluminium smelter, which is hydro-powered by the rain-water from Ben Nevis!
