Description

Start:Lamsenjochhütte.

From the Lamsenjochhütte hut, head a few metres back along the way you approached the hut and then take the fork in the trail towards "Binsalm" and "Falkenhütte".

The trail passes through a section of loose rocks beneath the Lamsenspitze mountain and heads up towards the Westliches Lamsenjoch (1940m).

On the other side of this ridge the descent begins to Binsalpe / Eng.

The narrow trail soon widens, leading past the upper building of the Binsalm hut.

There are several opportunities to for short-cuts.

Soon hikers will reach the main building of the Binsalm hut.

Food and drink: Binsalm and Engalm (Important information! It is not possible to stay the night at the Falken Hut in summer 2018 and 2019 due to renovation work.

Alternative accommodation is available at the Binsalm and the Engalm huts.) From here, hikers walk along a wide trail down into the alpine village of Eng (1,270m) with many traditional huts and ancient maple trees.

After passing the last few buildings, hikers turn off right onto a wide path leading to the Falken Hut.

This trail winds its way gently uphill through meadows and forests to the Hohljoch ridge (1,794m).

From this ridge there is a good trail underneath the impressive Laliderer Wände rockfaces leading back down to around 1,700m.

The final section of this stage leads uphill once again to the Spielissjoch ridge and on to the Falken Hut (1,848m).

At the Falken Hut, hikers head in a northerly direction following the signs for "Karwendelhaus" and continue gently downhill through a series of meadows before switching onto a wider trail and heading even further down.

After passing the pretty Ladizalm hut with its ancient building, a further downhill section along the same wide trail as before takes hikers through a sparse forest.

Hikers then cross the bed of a mountain stream (normally no water) to the Kleiner Ahornboden and then take a wide trail to the Hermann von Barth memorial and the old forest houses just above.

From here there is a forest road leading left past the houses towards the "Karwendelhaus".

The forest trail through sparse forest soon turns into a wider trail and then a walking trail uphill into the charming Unteres Filztal Valley.

After passing through a series of meadows, the walking trail meets a wider trail.

HIkers continue in the same direction through the meadows to the Hochalmsattel (1,803m) and an impressive crucifix.

Take a few moments to enjoy the views of the Falken Hut and the Laliderer Wände rockfaces before descending a few metres on a wide trail and then heading left down to the Karwendelhaus (1,765m).

This is a great vantage point for watching the sun set.
