Description

This hike is most popular for guests of the Zion Lodge and anyone looking for a casual stroll within proximity to the road in Zion National Park.

It leads through open cottonwood groves and meadows at the foot of towering cliffs, including a great view of Angels Landing Buttress directly ahead.

The trail spans the half mile in between Zion Lodge (Zion Canyon Shuttle stop #5) and The Grotto (shuttle stop #6). The Grotto is the starting point for Angels Landing and the finish for a top-down hike of the West Rim, as well as a picnic area, so it's a very popular spot.

It is also the start of Kayenta Trail, which links with Emerald Pools on the side of the canyon opposite Grotto Trail.

Add Kayenta Trail and Emerald Pools to make a complete loop back to the lodge.
