The hike to Diamond Head Summit is one of the most popular on Oahu, thanks to its incredible views from the top! The trail was originally constructed to serve a military installation high on the mountainside and consequently still has a well-reinforced trail surface, complete with steps, even today.
One part of the trail even goes through a lighted tunnel. While the trail tread is fairly predictable and achievable, earning it a "Moderate" FATMAP technicality rating, this is still a steep, aerobic climb.
In just 0.8 miles one-way, the trail climbs over 560 vertical feet in elevation.
If you plan to reach the summit, be prepared for a short but intense workout. Sources: https://dlnr.hawaii.gov/dsp/hiking/oahu/diamond-head-summit-trail/
