Description

There's a reason this descent is so popular: it's nice and easy (ski-mountaineering-speaking), and follows an aesthetic line down a striking peak.

This should be on every Front Range ski mountaineer's bucket list. Follow the Mitchell Lake Trail to Blue Lake.

Cross the lake, and now angle towards the peak.

There's a relatively easy gully to follow through the rocks to get into the basin below the line.

Climb the face on the looker's left side to preserve the skiing on the face.

Once you reach the upper ridge, take it north to the summit.

On the ski back down there's an option to get a few steep turns on the skier's left side.
