Description

After entering the top of the Aygues Cluses valley, via the Breche by the top of the Quatre Termes lift in La Mongie Ski area, there are several interesting and aesthetic lines along the east-west running ridge that forms the north side of the valley.

The Knife is one of them! Big overhanging rock walls makes this line particularly striking, and its diagonally sliced line across the mountainside gives it its name.

On warm days, ski this couloir early because afternoon shade can cause it to re-freeze.

This route shows the entry into the valley via the Breche, and the exit out to Tournaboup parking lot.

Consider making a day of it by skiing several of the couloirs along this ridge (Spaetzle, Guter Tag).
