Description

The Prospector Area, anchored by the Lost Prospector trail, is the most easily-accessible singletrack from downtown Park City, making it one of the highest trafficked trails in the region.

As a result, Park City Mountain Bike recommends that you "avoid riding Lost Prospector altogether [on the weekends]." But if you need a quick hit of dirt mid-week, or can ride during an off-peak time on the weekends, this is a great little trail system to check out! The route mapped here climbs up the flowy, intermediate-friendly Lost Prospector trail.

Park City's classic flow, with berm-filled corners, is in full effect on this trail.

Views of the Old Town with the resort rising in the background will force you to stop and pull the camera out.

After completing the Lost Prospector trail, a number of route options present themselves.

For beginners, loop back on the Rail Trail for a great introduction to Park City mountain biking. More advanced riders will want to add on more mileage and possibly more gnar, and this route serves up a more technical, rock-filled descent to conclude the route down the Masonic trail.

Masonic is one of the older trails in the area as the fall line character and chundery rocks show. While Lost Prospector isn't the most epic ride in Park City, the high quality of the singletrack, the great accessibility, and the options for both beginners and advanced riders mean that its popularity won't be diminishing anytime soon!
