The route starts at the ice rink in Les Houches, crosses the river and railway line on the road before following a forest trail that leads to Le Bettey and Plan de la Cry. The second half of the climb is on a forest and gravel track. At Chalets de Chailloux there is a buvette and the views are amazing. It is well worth the effort.
