Description

Hardcastle Crags is a beautiful wooded valley situated in West Yorkshire, England, within the South Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

It is located near the town of Hebden Bridge and covers an area of approximately 400 acres. The valley is renowned for its stunning scenery, with steep-sided wooded valleys, rugged moorland, and the River Calder running through the bottom of the valley.

There are also several waterfalls and cascades within the valley, including the popular Gibson Mill waterfall, which is now home to an excellent cafe in addition to the historical sites for which it was originally famous. Hardcastle Crags is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including birds, butterflies, and mammals such as otters, badgers, and deer.

The woods are primarily made up of deciduous trees such as oak, beech, and birch, which provide a colorful display during autumn. There are several walking trails within Hardcastle Crags, ranging from easy strolls along the river to more challenging hikes through the hills.
