Description
Les Contamines to Col de Mont Joly 16km +/- 900m.
You have the option to ascend in the second telecabine from Les Tappes shortening the route to 12km +500m/-900m.
You could also take the lift out and back having completed the top loop for a total of 9km +/-500m.
This is a must-do loop to and from Les Contamines as the views are far-reaching.
The complete route starts in the car park of the Telecabine de la Gorge, and follows the ski piste up the south-eastern ridge off the Nant rouge gully, via Les Tappes, to Col de Mont Joly.
The route then descends back to Contamines along the north-western side of the gully via Le Baptieu.
You can shorten the day, by taking the second telecabine from Les Tappes (Telecabine du Signal); unfortunately the Telecabine de la Gorge is too small for an all-terrain wheelchair.
From Le Signal you can then climb to the Col, descend to Les Besoens and then either follow the longer routing or head across the top of the gully back to the telecabine.
