Description

One of the flattest properties conserved by the Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust, Dixon Woods Park is home to a small network of trails just minutes from downtown Highlands.

Discover a wide variety of wildflowers and other flora, or bring a book and relax along the peaceful pond near the trailhead. All together, Dixon Woods contains about 1.7 miles of trail blazed in white, green, orange, blue and red trails.

The first three form loops, while the latter two allow access to other areas of the preserve.

Feel free to explore a little during your visit, and don't worry too much about getting lost as you're never too far from the trailhead. From downtown Highlands, NC, follow Main Street towards Mountain Fresh Grocery.

Continue straight on Horse Cove Road, passing the Highlands Biological Station and Ravenel Park.

After about 0.8 miles, take a sharp left onto Bowery Road.

About 1.3 miles up, there is a small, signed gravel parking area on the right. [Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust](http://www.hicashlt.org/hiking-trails.html)
