Description

The Whiteface Memorial Highway is closed for winter season starting beginning of October.

The road is covered in snow from gate to the top, from the Toll House it rises over 2,300ft in 5 miles to the top.

The trail can be done on XC skis, AT skis.

I would not recommend split-board as on the way down the trail is quite mellow.

To reach the actual peak you might need microspikes or crampons to cross the ridge from where the road ends.

It offers great views of Lake Placid and the High Peaks ridge on the right side and the Whiteface resort on the left.

On a clear day you can see Lake Champlain, northern Vermont mountain peaks, and even Canada. https://whiteface.com/todo/whiteface-veterans-memorial-highway/
