Description

A 5-8 day traverse through the heart of Strathcona Park.

The routes takes advantage of the well maintained Elk River Trail before branching off to a flagged route through Rambler Canyon to Elk Pass.

From there it takes you through true wilderness, linking several alpine ridges to reach the tallest mountain on Vancouver Island, the Golden Hinde.

The latter half of route follows the standard Golden Hinde approach past Burman, Schjelderup, and Carter Lakes and along Phillips Ridge to reach its terminus at Myra Falls Mine. The route be done in either direction and is described in detail in Exploring Strathcona Park by Phillip Stone.
