Nestled just to the east of Walsall town centre, Walsall Arboretum is a lovely place to escape into nature for an hour or so, and this walk will take round the best the area has to offer.

The park covers an area of 80 acres and was opened in 1874, making it one of the oldest parks in the region. The arboretum features a range of different tree species from around the world, including American oaks, Canadian maples, and Japanese cherries.

In addition to the trees, the park also has a large lake, a bandstand, a play area for children, and a number of walking paths and trails. The lake in Walsall Arboretum is one of the park's main attractions.

The lake covers an area of around 9 acres and is home to a variety of wildlife, including ducks, swans, and geese. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the lake, or rent a boat to explore the water.

There is also a small island in the center of the lake, which can be reached by a bridge and is a popular spot for picnics and wildlife watching. Fishing is also allowed in the lake, with a variety of fish species including carp, tench, and roach.

Anglers must have a valid fishing permit, which can be purchased from the park office. Throughout the year, the arboretum hosts a variety of events and activities, including outdoor concerts, festivals, and sporting events.

The park is also home to several monuments and statues, including a memorial to Queen Victoria and a statue of Sister Dora, a local nurse who was famous for her work during the 19th century.
