Description

Mega Steps is easily the best advanced-level mountain bike trail in the Klondike Bluffs Trail System.

This ripping trail begins with some up-and-down singletrack along the top of the ridge, then it makes a hard left turn and absolutely blasts straight back down the ridge side to the valley below! This is the fastest, most consistent descent in the Klondike Bluffs Trail System.

It includes endless rock gardens with fast slabs of rippled slickrock interspersed in between.

In fact, there's very little dirt to be found on this raucous trail.

Combine the high speeds, slab surfing, and technical challenge, and this is a true advanced-level gem! The nearby Alaska trail might appear to offer a similar ride style, but Alaska features several punchy climbs mixed into the descent, which can harsh the flow a bit.

For true downhill ripping, Mega Steps is where it's at. If you're looking for a quick hit of gnar, the route shown here is the shortest, most efficient way to ride Mega Steps.

The ride begins from the Klondike Bluffs North trailhead by rolling along the Dino Flow trail to Baby Steps North.

The climb might be fairly steep to get up Baby Steps, but it's a quick grind up the ridge to reach the beginning of Mega Steps. If, on the other hand, you're looking for a longer ride that still includes this fantastic descent, try the [Klondike Bluffs Sampler](https://fatmap.com/routeid/31038/klondike-bluffs-sampler) ride.
