Description

Deer Lake Park is centred around a picturesque lake of the same name.

It's a serene spot where you can go for a peaceful walk along the shoreline, enjoy a picnic, or simply relax and take in the natural beauty. Deer Lake Park features several scenic walking trails and pathways that wind through lush forests, meadows, and wetlands.

These trails are perfect for leisurely strolls, jogging, or cycling, and you'll see plenty of people enjoying those activities as you wander round. The Park is also home to some interesting cultural attractions such as The Shadbolt Centre; an arts facility which hosts a variety of cultural events, including theatre performances, art exhibitions, music concerts, and dance shows.

The centre also offers art classes and workshops. In addition, the Burnaby Art Gallery (which sits just outside the park boundary) showcases contemporary and historical artworks by local and international artists.

It frequently rotates its exhibitions, providing visitors with a diverse range of artistic expressions. Also adjacent to Deer Lake Park, the Burnaby Village Museum is a living history museum that offers a glimpse into the region's past.

It features restored heritage buildings, including a schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, and general store.

Visitors can explore the exhibits, interact with costumed interpreters, and learn about life in the early 20th century. There are also ample opportunities for outdoor activities.

You can rent a canoe or kayak and explore the lake, or try your hand at fishing.

There are also designated areas for picnicking and barbecuing, as well as sports fields and tennis courts. The park also boasts beautiful gardens with a variety of plant species, including rhododendrons, azaleas, and cherry blossoms.

These gardens offer a peaceful setting for a leisurely stroll or a picnic.

Deer Lake Park is also home to various wildlife species, and you may spot ducks, geese, and other birds during your visit. So whether you're looking for nature, art or a bit of both - Deer Lake Park is the ideal place to escape the city.
