Description

The Gallinero Trail begins with a stunningly-beautiful high alpine traverse high above the valley of Benasque...

if you utilize a shuttle.

Narrow bench cut singletrack traverse through the alpine before the route turns sharply downhill. Once the descent begins in earnest, "rocky, switchbacked singletrack high above tree line, filled with boulders, eventually dropped into a steep section of red, rippled slickrock slabs, hiding optional cliff drop lines and a true playground of obstacles," according to an article on Singletracks.com. Eventually the singletrack drops back into the trees, but the technical character only gets more intimidating.

Root-infested switchbacks require technical mastery to clear, and the high speed ripping through the trees on narrow singletrack is extremely challenging.

For those who are up to the challenge, though, the Gallinero Trail is undoubtedly a must-ride.

According to Nathan Powell, a guide for TrackMTB, "you’ll find everything on this trail, from high alpine plains, fast flowy singletrack, hairy technical sections, and woody dirt goodness."
