Description

Ideal for families, dog walking or just a peaceful solo stroll, the trip around Nancy Greene Lake is an easy win when you're in the Rossland area and need a fix of nature. The trail is wonderful and couldn't be much easier to follow - just walk to the right hand side of the beach at the northern end of the lake and the trail is right there waiting for you! The beach can be busy but within seconds of moving onto the trail you'll find some solitude, and it will likely continue for most of the hike. The trail runs pretty close to the highway but doesn't suffer from too much noise pollution, and you'll be able to stroll along in blissful silence virtually the whole way round the lake.

There are some points at which the lake is accessible from the trail, and there are also long stretches where you're nowhere near the lake - don't panic and just follow the only trail; it gets you back to the lake eventually! In addition to the peaceful ambience, you also get some excellent views of the Rossland range from the north shore of Nancy Greene Lake, including a good vista towards the highest peak in the range, Old Glory - https://fatmap.com/routeid/3319595/old-glory/@49.1422090,-117.8968638,6158.2029027,-90,0,1888.9006249,satellite The southern section of the hike, when you're furthest from the lake, can be slightly boggy and buggy, so just keep moving and take your rests at drier spots where you won't get eaten alive.

The trail leads you easily back to the beach, where a swim will likely prove irresistible!
