Description

Cub Scout is one of the easiest trails down the mountainside in Pajarito Bike Park.

This green-rated trail is, in fact, singletrack most of the way, but it follows old logging road grades that traverse across the mountainside.

As a result, the trail zig-zags down the mountain, with long straightaways interrupted by sharp corners. Some locals don't particularly consider this to be a "bike park" trail, but the presence of this easy green route could be very welcome for beginner riders who get in over their heads in the technical, gnarly terrain that Pajarito is renowned for. The long straightaways are fast, and the views from the ski runs are absolutely stunning! This bastion of lush aspen groves, towering pine trees, and grassy meadows stands in stark contrast to the arid desert that surrounds the mountain on all sides. The trail itself is mostly smooth, although there are some loose, gravelly bits that could cause concern if you're distracted. To step up from Cub Scout to a slightly harder objective, consider riding the Aspenola trail or Aspen for Trouble.
