To reach Mt Morrison’s ridge (3,255 m), you need to begin from the parking lot at the North East side of Convict Lake.
Start climbing the trail running directly up from the south side of the lake.
The trail starts off pretty steep, but this eases after about 400ft of ascent.
There is a creek to the lake that drains the east side of Mt.
Follow the same direction as the creek, but stay high on the ridge to the east side.
Sticking to the ridge should give you firmer footing than the creek.
After two miles of strenuous ascent along the canyon, follow the path to the right, which will take you closer to Mt.
Morrison's east side.
You’ll find yourself heading towards a small tarn, then from there head west, which will bring you to the East Slope. The descent is steep and tough on the legs at the start, but quickly eases into a leisurely half hour long, wide sweeping descent.
As you begin to approach the road, which is your end point, the run constricts into a very narrow gulley through the trees.
