Description

If you are looking for a challenging and rewarding hike in Capitol Reef National Park, you might want to try the Burro Wash trail.

On this hike, you'll follow a narrow slot canyon that offers stunning views of the Waterpocket Fold, a geological feature that defines the park.

Burro Wash is regarded as one of the best slot canyon hikes in the National Park.

The trail is not marked or maintained, so you will need to use your route-finding and navigation skills to follow the wash.

You will also encounter some obstacles, such as dry falls and boulders, that require scrambling and climbing. Some sections of the canyon are very tight, and you may have to squeeze through sideways.

You may also find pools of water that require wading or swimming.

The trail, as shown here, is about 6 miles round trip, although you can choose to hike and scramble even further.

It is recommended for experienced hikers who are prepared for desert conditions.
