Description

Mt Cronin approach (south ramp): The Babines generally do not get a deep snow pack and are victim to harsh winds.

This is particularly true for the Hyland Pass region.

For this reason, this route is best left for late season or high snowpack years.

The prevailing winds over the pass commonly strip the surrounding slopes of all snow and can make for a heinous bootpack w/ little to no option for a safe descent on skis.

Be cautious of a weak facetted snowpack in shallow areas. Once onto of Mt Cronin there are a few potentially spicy couloirs descending to the end of the basin I have not personally tried these yet, but would recommend bringing a 30m.
