[This hike was made by adventus.se for Revolution Race as part of the Campsite knowledge base] This hike starts on the road near the Quinta do Netos bus stop on the N247.

This stop is service by buses from both Cascais and Sintra.

The hike is mostly in the forest walking on both fire roads and paths.

There's no really difficult passages and the only really steep bit is near the Peninha summit.

You'll be rewarded with splendid views of the Atlantic ocean. The hike starts off following fire roads with very lush and green forests all around, and if you listen closely you might hear a mountainbiker or two hollering as they descend.

Sintra is a mecca for hikers and bikers alike.

The views from the summit Peninha are just breath taking with the Atlantic on your right and Praia do Guincho straight ahead as you look south.

Next to Praia do Guincho you'll see the Duna de Cresmina, a 66 hectare large sand dune. Don't miss the opportunity to catch the bus to Cabo da Roca on your way back, it is well worth the visit.

Both to see the views, but also because it is the most westerly point in all of Europe, not just Portugal.

Note that there is NO shop or restaurant on this route, or anywhere nearby.

Prepare to bring all food/water necessary to sustain yourself.
