Description

Routes 6.1 and 6.2 of sector 1 of The Lyngen Alps book Tverrbaktinden is the highest peak in Nord-Lenangen.

The starting point is located a few hundred meters south of the bridge over Lenangsstraumen (Fjelldalen).

There are some parking lots.

It is approximately 38 kilometers from the ferry terminal in Svensby. As soon as you start, you can enjoy the beautiful triangle of Kvasstinden reflected in the fjord.

We climbed about 100 mt and then we went halfway up the slope.

But it becomes very uncomfortable after an hour.

It would have been more comfortable, easier and faster if we had gone along the edge of the fjord. When we reach 5 km and reach Nordlenangsbotn, we have to go left through the valley between Tverrbakktinden and Synbakktinden to the 930m pass.

We have to turn left again for 1350m.

The last meters are supported by crampons to reach the summit.
