Description

With easy access along its entire length, this is a great hike which can be shortened or lengthened without difficulty.

The fact that's a linear hike does create some logistical challenges, but a simple car shuttle or a hitch-hike is all that's required.

The trail officially begins at Five Mile House and ends at White Cloud, but you can easily hike a section of it rather than doing the whole route. The trail is well maintained and clear but it is root-y in places - don't expect it to be pancake smooth all the way! The trail is at relatively high altitude so save it for the height of summer and you will be rewarded with peaceful forests and some wonderful views of the surrounding peaks.

In addition you'll pass Chalk Bluff, Bear Valley, and the South Yuba River - all wonderful sights in the heart of the Tahoe National Forest.
