Description

With barren terrain, no shade and a true desert feel, this is a hike which feels disproportionately wild given its proximity to Irvine.

Pack plenty of water and be prepared to get plenty of sun during the course of this trip! The Quail Hill region is home to some interesting flora, and some even more interesting fauna - namely the many coyotes which roam the area.

Keep an eye (and an ear - they do a lot of howling!) for these fascinating and somewhat intimidating creatures. Beyond your immediate surroundings the trip up and around Quail Hill also offers huge views across Irvine and the larger peaks which loom over it to the east.

Views, interesting animals and unusual terrain add up to make this a classic hike.
