Description

Enjoy beautiful views over the farmlands and moorlands and explore the interesting geological features of this famous area as you make your way round. Starting in Malham (pay and display), the trail begins with a climb up to Pikedaw and Grizedales descending through the crags and past the top of Malham Cove to the less steep paths of the farm fields.

The rock formations above Malham Cove will be familiar to Harry Potter fans as scenes from Deathly Hallows were filmed here. The trail then heads into Gordale Scar where you can admire the waterfall and geology, passing Janet's Foss and the legendary fairy queen's cave on the way back to the start. There are steep and rough sections along this trail that become more difficult in wetter conditions with muddy and slippery paths so care is needed and appropriate footwear is required. As this is active farmland with cattle great care is needed on the field paths and diversions may be necessary at times.
