The Sand Dune Trail isn't a well-maintained trail but even so, this social route crossing a series of large sand dunes on Cape Cod is a popular local hike.

Even though the route as mapped only covers two miles round-trip, hiking through the soft, shifting sand of the dunes is a physically demanding experience. When you reach the shore with its impressive views of the Atlantic, be sure to take a breather and take in the majesty of the ocean before heading back through the dunes. You can either follow the same path back that you took to get to the beach or form a lollipop loop by following the route mapped here.
