Description

This route begins and ends with a river crossing, following old logging roads.

The front end of the walk is a very strenuous 4 km climb up a well-used gravel road and the back end a gradual descent down an overgrown logging road that is now a single trail (easy to follow) through some pretty bush.

As you exit the tree line onto open grassy knolls, there are spectacular views of Savo Island and the new Mamara housing development (which is a great reward after 413 metres of climbing).

Once you cross the last river (Poha River), which is usually ankle to knee deep, it is a flat walk along a gravel road to the main road that leads back to the starting location in Kakambona.
